While a world record of unprecedented Political Clash: a Step-Mother vs Daughter in Nwoya District Uganda may be intriguing, the narrative behind it is fraught with challenges. Despite a ligament injury that has affected her mobility, Hon. Judith Peace Onen remains steadfast in her commitment to combating poverty and promoting economic development rooted in unity and patriotism in Nwoya District. Her primary political adversary is her stepmother, who has been politically mobilized against her for personal interests rather than addressing poverty and other issues. Although it is unprecedented for a mother to oppose her daughter in politics, it appears that her stepmother's political involvement may have been influenced and supported by Hon. Onen’s former partner, who has a history of abuse, and a pastor once close to her. These two individuals are now backing Hon. J P Onen's stepmother to challenge her politically for their personal benefit, aiming to replace her with a less qualified leader, an opportunity for opposition to grasp. However, Hon. Judith Peace Onen is highly regarded by her constituents throughout Nwoya District. Her stepmother, a businesswoman, could have focused on her business, which is less stressful, but has chosen to enter the political arena. In contrast, Hon. Judith Onen is an experienced leader who has ascended the political ladder through dedication, starting from her university days as a minister of gender, then as a bank manager, and now as a Member of Parliament. The key distinctions between them lie in their educational achievements and age. Hon. Judith is young, energetic, and holds an impressive academic record from primary school to university, which is available for public scrutiny. This is genuine information directly from Nwoya District.
As the primary election campaign progresses, voters are enthusiastically welcoming their representative, Hon. Judith Peace Onen (formerly known as Achan before her marriage to Onen). Hon. Dr. Judith Peace Onen exemplifies servant leadership.
She leads with integrity and humility, not through coercion or deceit.
She empowers and inspires the community to realize their dreams and aspirations.
HON. JUDITH PEACE ONEN
HAS ESTABLISHED A FOUNDATION FOR:
- EDUCATION: With a distinguished academic background, Hon. Judith Onen holds three degrees (BA, MA, and an Honorary PhD) and encourages Nwoya District students to follow suit. She has facilitated the graduation of two cohorts through her scholarship programs, helping numerous students achieve their dreams.
- HEALTH AND HEALTHCARE: She has secured aid to combat COVID-19, addressed uterine cancer in women, constructed a maternity ward, and pioneered social healthcare initiatives for vulnerable populations in Nwoya District.
- AGRICULTURE AND FARMING: She has promoted small-scale farming, distributed resources for piggery and poultry farming, and provided tools and seedlings for food and cash crops, as well as trees for environmental conservation, benefiting seasonal farmers and the community in Nwoya District.
- BUSINESS AND TRADE: She empowers women, youth, and elders by providing capital for small businesses, supporting financial savings initiatives, distributing sewing machines to women’s groups, launching local soap-making programs, and supporting salons and barber shops for the youth, as well as backing the Bodaboda group across Nwoya District.
- YOUTH EMPOWERMENT AND DEVELOPMENT: Through her efforts and the Judith Foundation, Hon. JUDITH PEACE ONEN has created employment and income opportunities, providing resources like iron sheets for housing construction.
- ABOVE ALL, she has raised numerous pressing issues affecting the people of Nwoya in both the national and international arenas, placing Nwoya on the global map.
Hon. Judith Onen is a servant leader who cherishes her constituents and the Nwoya community as much as she does her family. She is the first MP to allocate her entire salary to community development, investing in the community rather than herself, underscoring her role as a servant leader. She attracts investors, not invaders, to Nwoya District.
She requires just one more term to complete her initiatives. Every venture has a beginning and an end; her first term marked the beginning, and an additional term could conclude her tenure with the quality and objectives she aims to achieve, such as completing the hospital (maternity wards) in Nwoya, finalizing community education and health centers, and mechanizing farming in Nwoya District.
